Aluminium window leaf swung outward over a shaded UAE terrace, stay holding the gap
  • NARROW ROOMS AND WORKTOPS
  • LEAF OUTSIDE THE WALL

Outward-opening windows

An outward-opening leaf leaves the room alone: nothing sweeps over the sill, the curtains stay where they hang, and furniture can stand against that wall. Closed, it also gets the better half of the weather — the leaf shuts into a rebate on the room side, so a gust pressing on the glass drives it further onto its gaskets instead of trying to lift it off them. Open, the same leaf is a small sail hung along one edge, standing in air that may belong to a balcony, a walkway, a neighbour's line or the building's cleaning cradle. That is why the stay, the restrictor and the question of what the leaf passes over are the specification here, and the glass is the easy part.

  • clear of the room where the leaf travels
  • onto its rebate where a gust pushes it
  • the stay what holds it open

Advantages of working with us

  • In-house production

Windows, doors and glazed structures are made at our own factory in the UAE. Manufacturing takes 3–5 weeks from the survey, and the dates are written into the contract.

  • Room measurement

After a free consultation, an engineer comes to measure within 48 hours and answers the technical questions on site — openings, profile, glass and hardware.

  • Delivery of products

We deliver with our own transport across Dubai and all Emirates, and the installation date is agreed in advance so the crew arrives with the finished units.

  • Installation on site

A "clean" installation is carried out – all construction debris is removed, and dust and dirt are cleaned. Work can be conducted with or without your presence. The date and time are discussed individually.

  • Guarantee

The structures we make and the installation our crews carry out are covered by one warranty under one contract. The profile system also carries the manufacturer's warranty — up to 20 years, depending on the system.

  • Service

Warranty cases are handled by the same crews that did the installation: send the address and photos, and in most cases we can say before the visit whether it is an adjustment, a gasket or a glass unit.

Partitions

Office partitions made of aluminium profiles are a simple, quick, and cost-effective way to organise efficient zoning within a large space, while maintaining interior unity.

The honest downside

What an outward leaf makes harder

The outer face of the glass stays outside for good. On the ground floor a pole reaches it; higher up, washing an outward-opening pane means leaning out over the sill or waiting for the building's facade cleaning, and after a dusty week that is the first thing you notice.

The hinges, the stay and the open leaf itself also live in the weather. Every time the window is opened they meet the sun, the sand and, near the coast, the salt, so the gear asks for more cleaning and adjustment than hardware kept on the room side.

Where the glass has to be cleaned from inside, or the elevation is high and exposed, an inward-opening leaf keeps its hardware indoors and brings the outer face within reach. Outward stays the right answer in narrow rooms, over worktops and anywhere the space inside the window matters more than reaching its outside.

Consider instead Inward-opening windows

Frequently asked questions

Because the geometry does the work instead of the ironmongery. The leaf closes into a rebate on the room side of the frame, so wind pressing on the glass drives it harder into that rebate and compresses the gaskets it is already sitting on; the frame in front of it receives the load, and the locks are there to stop it swinging rather than to hold the weather out. An inward-opening leaf is the mirror image — it is pushed back the way it opens, and its locking points hold the difference. That is a genuine argument for this direction on an exposed elevation. It also stops being true the moment the leaf is open.

Not loose, and not in shamal season. An open side-hung leaf is a panel held along one edge with the wind pushing at the far side of it, which is the most leverage a window ever offers anybody: a gust either throws it wide and strains the hinge knuckles, or slams it back onto its own frame. Neither usually breaks glass. What it can do is leave the leaf sitting a fraction out of square, and a leaf out of square no longer compresses evenly until it is reset. The answers are a stay that holds anywhere in its travel rather than at fixed notches, and a restrictor wherever a window is going to be left ajar unattended.

Yes, and the list is longer than people expect. Over a communal walkway, a stair landing or an escape route; above a shared entrance; across a neighbour's boundary line; and anywhere on a tower where the facade cleaning cradle travels down that elevation. On many buildings it is decided for you: where the approved drawing shows a flush facade, nothing may stand out of it, and that is the management company's call rather than ours. When the survey finds one of these, we change the type rather than the size — a sash that stays inside the wall, or a leaf that slides within the frame.

It can, and it has to come from the drawing rather than be bought afterwards, because on this type the inside face is the crowded one. The handle and the stay both live in the room now, so the screen either stands proud of them on its own frame or carries a small opening panel to let a hand through to the lever. Both work. Neither works if the screen is measured after the window is in. Screens from our sister brand Mosquito Nets UAE can be drawn alongside the window, so the two are made to each other instead of one being trimmed to fit the other.
