Glass up to 30 mm
A double unit with solar control glass fits within this limit. The heaviest acoustic build-up, about 42 mm, is too thick; a room on a busy road gets aluminium or a lifting slider.
White profile reflects the sun, while a dark one heats up and grows longer; long dark uPVC sections on a west wall are drawn with care. That is one reason the Deceuninck sliders we fit are supplied in white.
How it is built
Two panes of glass sealed around a spacer frame; the cavity between them is filled with dry air or argon. The spacer holds a desiccant that keeps the cavity dry.

The leaf rides on carriages; after a shamal the track is brushed or vacuumed.
A lock sits in the leaf; REHAU SLINOVA hides a six-point lock inside it.
Brushes close the gap between leaves; SYNEGO SLIDE instead presses the leaf onto a gasket all round.

Questions about uPVC sliding doors
Is a uPVC slider airtight enough for the air conditioning?
A pressed-seal system such as SYNEGO SLIDE closes all round; a brush-seal slider lets slightly more air pass.
Will the frame yellow?
Branded profile is stabilised against sunlight; yellowing is a sign of cheap unbranded profile.
Is it secure on a ground floor?
SYNEGO SLIDE reaches burglary class RC 2 and SLINOVA passed the British PAS 24 test; laminated glass holds together when hit.
What about sand in the track?
Drain channels on any material fill with blown sand; clearing them and the brushes is routine care.
