Windows in Mirdif

Mirdif is family villas, well inland, with the airport for a neighbour, and aircraft noise is what brings most people here to us rather than heat or dust. It is worth being straight about what glazing can and cannot do with it: an aircraft is a broad, heavy sound that arrives through the whole envelope, and a window is only one part of that envelope. What genuinely changes a room is mass and asymmetry in the glass, a laminated pane that damps the vibration instead of passing it on, and — more than either — a sash that seals along its entire perimeter, because one continuous gap undoes the most expensive unit you can buy. Nobody should promise you silence, and we will not.

Why choose aluminium windows?

  • Aluminium window profile cross-section with three EPDM seal contours highlighted in red

    Durable EPDM seals

Three contours of EPDM seals keep the glass off the aluminium and close the gap between sash and frame, so dust, humid salt air and wind-driven rain stay outside.

  • Aluminium window profile cross-section with a foamed thermal insert highlighted

    Foamed thermal inserts

Foamed inserts fill the profile chambers and stop air circulating inside them, so less outside heat and street noise passes through the frame into the cooled room.

  • Aluminium window profile cross-section with polyamide thermal breaks highlighted

    Polyamide thermal breaks

Glass-filled polyamide thermal breaks up to 40 mm wide keep the outer and inner shells apart, so the frame holds its shape and its insulation through a UAE summer.

  • Aluminium window profile with an energy-efficient double glazing unit highlighted

    Energy-efficient double glazing

Double glazing up to 60 mm thick puts a sealed gap of still air or gas between the hot street and the cooled room, so less heat crosses the glass into the room.

Frequently asked questions

They will not stop it, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling. Aircraft noise is broad and heavy at the low end, and low frequencies come through walls, roofs and doors as readily as through glass, so the window is one route in among several. What good glazing does is take the edge off it and drop the level far enough that the room stops being the reason you wake up. The honest way to judge the job is room by room: a bedroom on the exposed side is worth doing properly, and a bathroom at the back of the house is not.

Three things, in this order. Weight and asymmetry: two panes of different thickness in one unit refuse to resonate at the same pitch, so the frequency that walks through one is caught by the other. A laminated pane, where the interlayer between the sheets damps the vibration rather than passing it on. And sealing — continuous contours pressed evenly along the entire perimeter of the sash. The last one is what people skip and what decides the outcome, because sound leaks through a gap the way water does.

It has to be planned instead of left to leak. A villa that used to breathe through worn frames stops doing it the day they come out, which is the entire point, but the air still has to arrive from somewhere: mechanical ventilation, the fresh-air supply of the air conditioning, or acoustically treated vents where the room suits them. We raise it at the survey, because the alternative is discovering it in the first week and leaving a window open at night, which gives back everything you paid for.

Yes, and in a family house that is usually the sensible order. Noise is judged per room, so a bedroom done completely — every opening in it, not just the one above the bed — is a real improvement while the rest of the house waits. What we do ask is that the colour, the finish and the sightlines are agreed at the start, so the elevation still matches when the second phase happens a year later and nobody has to guess what was used the first time.
