Deceuninck systems

A Belgian group from West Flanders, founded in 1937 and known first for uPVC profiles — rigid plastic sections for windows and doors. Since 2017 it also has an aluminium line, Decalu. The material decides the job long before the brand does: a welded uPVC frame is warm, quiet and cheaper per opening, a reasonable answer for bedrooms, bathrooms, staff rooms and windows of ordinary size; Decalu takes the openings where aluminium is the better material. Which of the two fits your opening we say at the survey, not at the handover.

How we decide uPVC or aluminium

  • Every opening measured and photographed Engineer on site within 48 hours
  • Span and glass weight taken first The size of the hole picks the material
  • Height and exposure checked for wind Upper tower floors rarely end in plastic
  • Orientation of each facade noted West-facing glass changes the answer
  • A room-by-room split written into the quote uPVC where it suits, aluminium where it must
  • Fabrication and fitting kept in-house Three to five weeks from approved drawing

Frequently asked questions

On three counts, and it is worth naming them honestly. Cost: for the same opening a plastic frame lands below an aluminium one, which is why a whole-villa budget stretches further with it. Sound: the chambered section and the seals around the sash make a bedroom facing a road noticeably calmer. Heat: plastic conducts far less than metal, so nothing is working against the air conditioning at the frame itself, whereas an aluminium window has to buy that back with a thermal break. On an ordinary bedroom or bathroom window, uPVC wins all three.

Wherever the opening gets big or the weather gets serious. A wide panoramic field needs a section that stays straight while carrying heavy glass, and plastic reinforced with steel gets bulky and heavy long before aluminium runs out of strength. High elevations are the second case: wind pressure on a tower is a structural calculation, and it usually lands on metal. The third is direct sun on a large sash, because plastic moves with heat considerably more than aluminium does. Big glass, high floors and hard sun are aluminium questions.

White is the case it is designed for, and it is the colour we push people towards here for a physical reason rather than a fashion one: a pale surface simply does not reach the temperature a dark one does in the same afternoon. Dark foiled finishes on large plastic sashes are where trouble starts, because a hot section expands, and a sash that grows against its frame stops closing sweetly. If you want anthracite windows on a sun-facing elevation, that is a conversation about aluminium, not about which plastic brand to buy.

We do not, and we will not let a quote suggest it. We hold no licence from any European systems company; what we do is buy the branded profile, gaskets and hardware through the manufacturer's supply and then weld, glaze, fit and adjust the windows ourselves in Dubai, to their specification. Our own aluminium windows are made here too — a different product line at a different price, and it appears in the quote under its own name so you always know which of the two you are reading.
