Panoramic glazing

Panoramic glazing is a whole elevation turned into glass, not one large window in a wall. A living room, a majlis or a penthouse floor is closed with a run of full-height bays, the framing cut back to the sightline that holds the unit, and the angle either mitred in glass or carried on one slim post. Two things govern how far it can be taken: what the floor above is permitted to do, because a deflecting slab must never come to rest on a pane, and how glass that size will physically reach the room it is meant to close.

Advantages of working with us

  • In-house production

Windows, doors and glazed structures are made at our own factory in the UAE. Manufacturing takes 3–5 weeks from the survey, and the dates are written into the contract.

  • Room measurement

After a free consultation, an engineer comes to measure within 48 hours and answers the technical questions on site — openings, profile, glass and hardware.

  • Delivery of products

We deliver with our own transport across Dubai and all Emirates, and the installation date is agreed in advance so the crew arrives with the finished units.

  • Installation on site

A "clean" installation is carried out – all construction debris is removed, and dust and dirt are cleaned. Work can be conducted with or without your presence. The date and time are discussed individually.

  • Guarantee

The structures we make and the installation our crews carry out are covered by one warranty under one contract. The profile system also carries the manufacturer's warranty — up to 20 years, depending on the system.

  • Service

Warranty cases are handled by the same crews that did the installation: send the address and photos, and in most cases we can say before the visit whether it is an adjustment, a gasket or a glass unit.

The honest downside

What a wall of glass gives up

A glass elevation takes the wall away, and a room needs its walls for more than people expect. Sofas, beds and shelving have nothing to stand against, and after dark a lit room behind clear glass is on show to the garden, the street or the tower opposite, so curtains or blinds come back, running the full height and width.

A cracked full-height pane also needs the same crane or carrying route it arrived by, which is easy to forget once the garden and the driveway are finished.

If the room needs furniture against its outer wall or privacy at night without heavy drapery, full-height windows set into a wall give generous light while keeping piers for furniture and blinds. A panoramic elevation is the right answer where the view is the main event and the room is planned around it.

Consider instead Floor-to-ceiling windows

Frequently asked questions

Because the floor above is not still. A concrete slab deflects under its own finishes, its furniture and its occupants, and it moves again with temperature; if the glazing is packed tight to it, that movement arrives on the top edge of a pane. So the head is detailed with a deliberate allowance — the frame is restrained sideways but free vertically — and the pane keeps carrying only its own weight. It is a common reason a glazed wall cracks for no apparent reason.

Yes, with two panes mitred along the vertical edge and bonded, which is why the detail turns up in penthouses and on villa corners with a view worth paying for. It asks for more: the structure over the corner has to be stiff, the panes are a matched pair processed together, and the joint is a designed silicone line rather than a bead. A slim corner post costs less and is far easier to live with — it is a genuine choice, not a compromise.

It can be, but not by accident. The glass is specified for what each bay actually faces, so the west run is not given the same build-up as the shaded one; any shading the architecture offers is taken into account; and the air conditioning has to reach the glass line rather than blowing across the middle of the room. Even then you feel radiant heat close to a big pane in the afternoon, so the seating plan follows the sun as much as the view.

That is settled at the survey, before the size is confirmed. Sometimes it is a crane over the roof, sometimes a lift through a balcony opening, sometimes a glass robot on a route we have walked with a tape from the gate to the room. Where no route exists, the bay is split into two panes with a slim post — a much better answer than a pane that gets as far as the driveway and stops.
