Why lift-and-slide for a terrace
A normal slider rolls on its seals all the time; a lift-and-slide panel rises on its rollers when you turn the handle and settles back onto the gaskets when you close it. The result is a panel that moves lightly despite 400 kg and a seal that presses tight when shut. For a villa living room onto a pool deck or a garden it is the usual choice for panels of this weight.
What the figures mean in the UAE
GLS 125 publishes watertightness 1050 Pa, wind class C5/B5 and air permeability class 4. These are strong values for an exposed terrace and help an air-conditioned room hold its cool air. Glass up to 42 mm takes solar-control and laminated layers; the thermal value of the finished door is confirmed by calculation before the order.
A symmetrical profile uses the same accessories inside and out, and the meeting stiles are sealed with a simple system. On a sandy plot the track still needs cleaning, and we set the threshold so that water drains outward.
GLS 125 or GLS 180
GLS 180 has an 80 mm leaf, takes glass up to 60 mm, publishes sound insulation up to 44 dB, burglar resistance up to RC 2 / WK 2 and watertightness E1350. GLS 125 publishes panel sizes and weights, which GLS 180 does not. Choose GLS 180 for thick acoustic or security glass; GLS 125 when published panel limits up to 3000 × 3000 mm and 400 kg are what the design needs.
