Non-insulated doors

A non-insulated door is a single run of aluminium from the outer face to the inner one. Nothing interrupts it, so whatever the outside skin reaches, the inside face follows it within the hour. That is a defect in a bedroom and completely beside the point in a pump room. The question is never whether the break is missing — it is whether there is a temperature difference across the leaf worth interrupting. Where the same air stands on both sides, a plain profile is slimmer, lighter, quicker to make and has one fewer thing inside it to go wrong. Where it does not, the saving is handed straight back, and we would rather say so at the survey than at the handover.

  • one solid section what the profile is
  • follows the outside the inner face
  • same air both sides where it belongs

Advantages of working with us

  • In-house production

Windows, doors and glazed structures are made at our own factory in the UAE. Manufacturing takes 3–5 weeks from the survey, and the dates are written into the contract.

  • Room measurement

After a free consultation, an engineer comes to measure within 48 hours and answers the technical questions on site — openings, profile, glass and hardware.

  • Delivery of products

We deliver with our own transport across Dubai and all Emirates, and the installation date is agreed in advance so the crew arrives with the finished units.

  • Installation on site

A "clean" installation is carried out – all construction debris is removed, and dust and dirt are cleaned. Work can be conducted with or without your presence. The date and time are discussed individually.

  • Guarantee

The structures we make and the installation our crews carry out are covered by one warranty under one contract. The profile system also carries the manufacturer's warranty — up to 20 years, depending on the system.

  • Service

Warranty cases are handled by the same crews that did the installation: send the address and photos, and in most cases we can say before the visit whether it is an adjustment, a gasket or a glass unit.

How we decide a door can go without a break

  • Air on both sides of the opening established One cooled face settles the argument
  • Humidity considered, not only temperature Damp air on cool metal makes water
  • Use of the space taken as it will be, not as drawn Stores turn into offices later
  • Exposure separated from insulation A yard gate still needs gaskets and weeps
  • Saving weighed against what runs every day A discount once, a difference daily
  • Break specified the moment either side is cooled We would sooner lose the cheaper line

The honest downside

Where a plain profile will cost you

The saving on a non-insulated door is real only where the air is the same on both sides. The usual villa mistakes are doors that look like service doors but are not: the kitchen door to the yard, the laundry onto the service court, the garage door into a cooled utility room. One side of each is air-conditioned, and bare metal carries the heat straight in.

It shows up as condensation on humid mornings, beading on the outer face and running onto the sill, and as a strip of hot metal the cooling fights all day.

Wherever either side is cooled, or may be one day, a thermal break door is the right specification, because the break cannot be added afterwards. A plain profile remains the honest answer for plant rooms, yard stores and roof access, where both sides stay at outdoor temperature.

Consider instead Thermal break doors

Frequently asked questions

Stand on each side of it and ask what the air is doing. If one side is cooled and the other is not — a flat opening onto a lobby is the awkward case, because shared corridors here are cooled too, but rarely to the same degree — there is a difference for the metal to carry, and the break has something to interrupt. If both sides sit in the same unconditioned air, a store to a yard, a plant room to a roof, a garage to a side passage, the break has nothing to do and you are paying for a component that never works. That is the whole test, and it survives being asked again in five years about the same door.

Two things, and the first one is visible. Humid outdoor air meets an aluminium face that the room behind has chilled, and the moisture in it condenses on the frame — beading along the outer face of the profile, running down onto the sill and into the joint where the frame is fixed. Repeat it every morning of a humid month and the marks stop washing off. The second is quieter: an unbroken profile is a conductor set through the wall, so the cooling plant spends the whole day pulling heat back out of a piece of metal that keeps collecting more. Neither is a fault in the door. Both were decided when the profile was chosen.

No, and the two questions get confused constantly. Strength comes from the wall thickness of the extrusion, the corner joints and the hardware; weathertightness comes from the gaskets, the rebate and whether the water that gets in has a drained route back out. A plain profile can be fully sealed, fully drained and perfectly stiff. The break governs one thing only — how readily heat crosses from one face to the other. A well-built non-insulated door in a yard will outlast a badly detailed insulated one in a villa, because everything except the heat path is unrelated to it.

Where both sides share the same air, there is no catch, and we will quote it without hedging. Where they do not, the catch is that the saving happens once and the difference happens every day the cooling runs — plus the condensation, which arrives as staining at the sill and around the fixings rather than as a line on a bill. There is also a version of the trap that is nobody's fault: a store or a service corridor that gets a split unit fitted two years later, at which point the door suddenly becomes a strip of hot metal in a cooled room, with an outer face that sweats on humid mornings. If there is any prospect of that, we specify the break now, because the leaf and the frame both have to change to add it afterwards.
