Horizon Pivot is supplied in the UAE by Gutmann Middle East LLC, Dubai Investment Park 2. We build the leaves at our Dubai factory to the manufacturer's specification and set the pivots on site with our own crew.
A door that turns on its axis
A pivot door carries its weight on a pivot in the floor and the head, not on hinges at the edge. That is why a leaf of several metres can open with one hand and close quietly. On a villa entrance or a majlis it makes the door the main feature of the facade: one tall pane, slim frame, no visible hinges. The pivot weight is 600 kg for a free-swinging leaf and 500 kg with soft close.
What to plan for in the UAE
The published classes are watertightness 3A, wind class C3/B3 and air permeability class C3. These are moderate, so a pivot door works best under a canopy, a deep reveal or a covered porch, not on a fully exposed sea-facing wall. The floor pivot needs a solid slab and an exact level, which we agree with the contractor before the floor finish goes in.
Glass is limited to 36 mm, enough for a laminated double-glazed unit with solar control. The thermal value of the finished leaf is confirmed by calculation before the order.
Horizon Pivot or GWD 080
GWD 080 is a hinged door in the 80 mm series with glass up to 60 mm, watertightness 1200 Pa, wind class C4/B4 and published sizes up to 3000 × 3000 mm for two leaves. Choose GWD 080 for an exposed entrance that needs higher weather classes and thick glass; Horizon Pivot for a tall statement door in a sheltered position.
Horizon Pivot is the GUTMANN door for tall, heavy statement leaves that should open lightly and show no hinges, best placed under cover.
