A pivot door turns on an axis set in from the edge instead of hanging on side hinges, which is how a very tall, heavy leaf can open with a light push. We fabricate Vetromax profiles to the manufacturer's specification at our Dubai factory and install them ourselves.
Where a pivot door fits
Villa entrances under a double-height canopy, the front of a gallery or a showroom, a penthouse lobby door, a glazed garden gate — places where the door is part of the architecture. A leaf up to 2.5 × 6 m (width × height) can run from floor to ceiling in a high entrance hall, and double action lets it swing both ways where people come and go all day.
Weight, heat and wind on a big leaf
The floor pivot carries up to 600 kg, which is what allows a tall leaf with thick laminated glass or a solid clad panel. Glazing up to 52 mm leaves room for a solar-control insulated unit, and the thermal break keeps a big aluminium leaf from passing the heat of a sunny entrance into the hall behind it.
Size has its price in wind. A tall leaf acts like a sail, and an entrance exposed to the shamal needs its opening direction, a closer or hold-open and the pivot position planned together. Sand at the threshold matters too: the floor pivot and the bottom seal are set with the finished floor, so falls and drainage are agreed early.
Vetro Pivot or HS 80P doors
Vetro Casement HS 80P also makes single- and double-leaf doors, on hinges, with a 45 mm fixed frame, a 60 mm opening sash and ratings of air permeability class 4, watertightness E1200 and wind load C5. It suits doors of ordinary size that should match hidden-sash windows. Vetro Pivot is for the entrance that is meant to be seen.
Vetro Pivot VP 75 is the Vetromax door for a large, deliberate entrance, provided the wind, the floor and the space around the pivot are planned with it.
