Everything that lets a sash swing and hold shut is bought by load, not by looks. A wide leaf carrying a thick glazing unit hangs on its hinges every hour of every year, and a kilometre from the water that same mechanism sits in salt-laden air. We size the set against the sash before the profile is cut, so the handle — the only part anyone actually touches — is the last decision rather than the first.
Three contours of EPDM seals keep the glass off the aluminium and close the gap between sash and frame, so dust, humid salt air and wind-driven rain stay outside.

Foamed inserts fill the profile chambers and stop air circulating inside them, so less outside heat and street noise passes through the frame into the cooled room.

Glass-filled polyamide thermal breaks up to 40 mm wide keep the outer and inner shells apart, so the frame holds its shape and its insulation through a UAE summer.

Double glazing up to 60 mm thick puts a sealed gap of still air or gas between the hot street and the cooled room, so less heat crosses the glass into the room.

The honest downside
More mechanism means more to look after. Multi-point locking runs cams and keeps around the whole frame, and fine dust worked into them is what makes a handle stiff; a tall sash with many points needs adjusting more often than a small one with few. Coastal-grade parts slow corrosion near the sea but do not stop it, and they still want rinsing.
Hardware also cannot make up for the profile it sits on. New locking points or a heavier handle on an old or thin frame add little if the frame itself flexes, and a sash sagging because the profile is worn will not be cured by new hinges alone.
Where a window is almost never opened, a fixed window needs no hardware at all and seals better, with a small opening sash beside it for air. Full multi-point hardware earns its place on large sashes, on the ground floor and wherever a window is opened every day.
