A bi-fold is the door for people who want the wall to disappear, and this one pays attention to the details that decide whether it keeps working. We fabricate Deceuninck profiles to the manufacturer's specification at our Dubai factory and install them ourselves.
Where folding makes sense in the UAE
The climate gives a folding door a split year. From late autumn to spring the whole front of a living room, a majlis or a café can stand open to the garden; through the summer it stays closed while the air conditioning runs. A bi-fold earns its place where those open months matter — a garden room, a pool house, a restaurant terrace — and where a full-width opening is worth more than an uninterrupted view in the hot season.
The details that count in dust and heat
Jamb adjustment of 2 × 7 mm, 14 mm in total, is a practical detail: walls in finished villas are rarely perfectly square, and a folding door forced into a skewed opening binds at the stack. Here the frame takes up the difference so the leaves meet evenly. Hidden drainage keeps slots off the face where sand would gather, and the gaskets arrive fitted rather than pushed in on site.
The published U-value is from 1.32 W/m²K with double glazing and from 0.9 with triple, not stated as a door or a frame value. A folding door has a vertical profile at every fold, so frame performance matters more here than on a slider — and it is the closed door that the air conditioning has to live with.
Bi-fold, French Door or Decalu163
Decalu88 French Door uses the same sections for a pair of leaves in an ordinary doorway, with air permeability class 3. Decalu163 lift-and-slide carries up to 400 kg per sash with far fewer frames across the view, but its sashes park over one another rather than clearing the full width. The bi-fold sits between them: a full opening, lighter leaves, more profiles when closed.
Decalu88 Bi-fold suits openings you really will fold back for part of the year, and its adjustable jambs make it forgiving of walls that are not quite square.
