Glazed shopfront and atrium balustrade inside a modern Dubai shopping mall

Shopping malls

A mall never closes for the glazier. The work happens between the last shopper leaving and the first cleaner arriving — behind hoarding, with the waste carried out through the service corridor before trading starts. Everything else follows the landlord's own standard: the shopfront line, the atrium balustrade, the entrance screens, because the mall is protecting a look that runs the whole length of the building.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, and the work is planned that way. Installation runs in the permitted overnight window behind hoarding, material comes in and waste goes out through the service route, and the sequence is planned so the area is handed back clean before trading. A large shopfront can be split across several nights instead of closing the unit for a week.

Yes. The landlord's technical guidelines govern the shopfront zone — how far the glass may come forward, how the head and the base are finished, often the frame colour and the door type. We prepare the submission drawings in the format the mall's tenant coordination team expects and answer their comments until it is approved.

Public areas are laminated territory: a pane above a void has to stay in its frame if it is broken. The other constraint is handling — panel sizes are set by what the service lift and the mall's own lifting restrictions allow at night, which sometimes means more joints than a drawing would ideally show.

Production runs 3–5 weeks from the approved drawing, and the installation itself is counted in nights rather than weeks. We plan backwards from the fit-out completion date the mall has given you, because that date is fixed and the trading floor around it will not wait.
