Yas Island
Yas is a working island as much as a residential one, and the glazing question people arrive with is noise. Concerts, the circuit and the hotel strip put sound into the air on particular weekends rather than continuously, which is a different problem from a permanent road: the frame has to hold on the loud nights without making the house feel sealed the rest of the year. The second factor is exposure — water on more than one side, so salt air reaches most of the island. The third is access: event days close roads, and a delivery that ignores the calendar simply does not arrive.

We produce

Frequently asked questions
They reduce what reaches the room; they do not make it silent, and anyone promising silence is selling something. What actually works is a laminated pane whose interlayer damps the vibration, panes of unequal thickness in the unit so they do not resonate together, and a sealing line that pulls tight the whole way round. The last one is where most of the improvement is lost: a good unit in a frame that leaks air leaks sound with it. We do not publish decibel figures because the honest answer depends on your floor, your facade and what is there now.
Rarely. Sound arrives from a direction, so the elevation that faces the venues carries the acoustic specification and the rest of the house does not need to pay for it. Which elevation that is gets decided at the survey by standing in the rooms rather than by looking at a plan, because the building itself, a garden wall or the neighbouring house often shields one face completely. Bedrooms on the exposed side usually matter most, since that is where the late end of a concert is actually noticed; a kitchen on the same side may not need it at all. Spending the budget on the two or three openings that count does more than spreading a lighter upgrade across the whole house, and it keeps the quieter elevations on a standard unit that is easier to open.
It decides the dates rather than the specification. On the bigger weekends, roads around the venues close or run one way, and access to parts of the island is controlled while an event is on, so a delivery booked for the wrong morning simply cannot get in. We check the calendar before a date is confirmed and again the week before, and we would rather move a day than have a lorry wait outside a closed junction with frames on it. Installation itself is unaffected once the material is inside the house. The one thing we do avoid is leaving an opening half done on the day before a closure, so the order of work is set so that every room started is sealed and closed before the crew leaves.
It is, because Yas has water on more than one side and the wind carries salt across the whole island. The aluminium itself is not the part at risk; a proper coating deals with it. The hardware is. Rollers, hinges, locking points and fixings are the parts that stiffen and pit, so those are specified in stainless steel and the finish is chosen for coastal exposure rather than the standard inland one. The frame is also detailed to drain and vent, so salt that settles in the track is washed out by rain or cleaning instead of sitting against the metal. After that, a rinse with fresh water during normal cleaning does most of the rest, and the survey notes which elevations face the water so the specification is not applied blindly to the sheltered ones.
