GFS is offered in the UAE by Gutmann Middle East LLC, Dubai Investment Park 2. We fabricate the leaves and frames at our Dubai factory to the manufacturer's specification and install them with our own crews.
When the whole wall should open
A villa living room that becomes one space with the garden in the cooler months, a restaurant or café front that opens onto the street, a majlis that joins a covered terrace: GFS is made for these. The supplier describes its main use as buildings where good insulation is needed together with full use of the opening. Leaves up to 5 m high make it possible to open a double-height space as well.
What to plan for
The folded leaves stack at one or both sides, so the stack needs space inside or outside the opening and the furniture is planned around it. Every leaf joint has seals, which is why the frame and track are set level and the threshold is drained: a fold-and-slide door is only as tight as its installation.
Wind class C3/B3 is moderate, so on high or very exposed elevations the leaf size is checked by the facade engineer. Glass up to 40 mm takes solar-control and laminated layers, and the thermal value of the finished door is confirmed by calculation before the order.
GFS or a lift-and-slide door
GLS 180 opens only part of the wall, because one panel slides over another, but it publishes wind class C5/B5, watertightness E1350, sound insulation up to 44 dB and glass up to 60 mm. Take GFS when the full width must open; GLS 180 when weather and acoustic figures matter more than a fully clear opening.
GFS is the GUTMANN fold-and-slide door for opening a whole wall onto a garden or street, with leaves up to 5 m high.
