A unitised wall with published limits
Many unitised facades are designed from scratch for each project. EF 68 publishes its limits: units up to 2600 mm wide and 3600 mm high, up to 300 kg, which covers the typical floor-to-floor height of offices and residential towers. That lets the architect set the grid early and the structural engineer check it against wind and movement. A high degree of prefabrication keeps site work short.
EF 68 or EF 68+
Standard EF 68 takes glass 26–38 mm, enough for a solar-control double-glazed unit. EF 68+ is the special construction for projects that need more: optimised insulators and gaskets and glass up to 52 mm, room for laminated or acoustic layers on a tower next to a highway. The basic butt joint is 10 mm, with 20 mm as an option, and the units seal with an overlapping system at the joints.
Watertightness 1000 Pa, wind class C5 and air permeability class AE are published. The thermal value of the wall with your glass is confirmed by calculation before the order.
EF 68 or the Unitized curtain wall
The Unitized curtain wall is the GUTMANN unitised system designed per project, with watertightness 1000 Pa and wind class C5 but no published unit sizes. Choose EF 68 when its 2600 × 3600 mm and 300 kg limits fit the building. When they do not, or the units are shaped for the project, the Unitized system is designed with GUTMANN and the unit sizes are confirmed for that building.
