A stick system is assembled piece by piece on the building, which makes it flexible for shapes that are not a flat rectangle. We fabricate AluK profiles to the manufacturer's specification in our Dubai factory and install them ourselves.
Offices, showrooms and villa glass walls
SL50 is used where a wall is mostly glass: an office front, a car or furniture showroom, the double-height stair wall of a villa. It also covers inclined and polygonal shapes, which is how a winter garden or a glazed garden room is built, and insert vents bring in fresh air without a separate window.
What the figures mean in heat, noise and wind
The published Ucw, the U-value of the curtain wall as a whole, is 1.7 or 1.1 W/m²K depending on the build. On a sun-facing façade in Dubai the glass carries a large part of the heat load, and the glazing pocket of up to 60 mm leaves room for solar-control and laminated units. Panes can weigh up to 690 kg, so large sheets are possible without extra transoms.
Acoustic performance is published at 46 (-1;-4) dB, relevant for offices and homes on main roads. The wind load for the height and the fixing into each slab are calculated for the building, not taken from the catalogue.
SL50 and the AluK window series
Where a façade needs sashes that open wider than an insert vent, AluK windows sit next to the curtain wall: C67K and C77K for inward-opening sashes, 62TTE for outward-opening ones. The curtain wall carries the glass surface; the windows handle ventilation and cleaning access.
SL50 fits glass façades, winter gardens and inclined glazing where the shape or the pane size is out of the ordinary.
