In four-way structural glazing the glass is bonded to its frame along every edge, so from outside the facade reads as glass and joints, with no aluminium caps. The profile is extruded in Dubai by Gulfex (Gulf Extrusion LLC); we fabricate it to the manufacturer's specification in our Dubai factory and install it ourselves.
Where Vortex 70 is used
Office and commercial buildings, showrooms, and villa elements such as a double-height stair wall or an entrance hall facade. Semi-unitised means the glass panels are bonded to their frames in the workshop and then fixed to the mullion grid on site, so the bonding happens under controlled conditions rather than on a scaffold.
Depth, glass and the climate
The 80–150 mm range of depths is how the system answers wind: a taller span or a more exposed elevation takes a deeper member, and the structural calculation for the building sets which one. The 6–32 mm glass range covers insulated units with a solar-control coating, which on a west elevation carry most of the thermal load.
For the opening vents the choice between the cold and the insulated version is simple in the UAE: if the space behind is cooled, the insulated vent keeps the frame from bridging heat and collecting condensation.
How it fits the family
Vortex 70 is the facade system of the Gulfex family. For individual window openings in the same building, TB-600 windows with a 60 mm frame and 18–38 mm glazing keep the elevation in one supplier's sections.
Vortex 70 is a locally extruded structural-glazing facade for commercial elevations and large villa glass walls where the facade should read as glass.
