TB 62 sits in the catalogue section of the manufacturer's site next to TB-600, and the two are easy to confuse. The difference is in the section: a deeper sash, a wider thermal break and a narrower range of glass. The profile is extruded in Dubai by Gulfex (Gulf Extrusion LLC); we fabricate it to the manufacturer's specification in our Dubai factory and install it ourselves.
Where TB 62 fits
Apartments and villas where every window takes the same double-glazed unit: bedrooms with tilt-and-turn sashes, living rooms with side-hung casements, and hinged doors to a balcony in the same series. The 70.5 mm sash is a deep, stiff section, which helps on taller casement sashes.
The wider break, and what it does not change
The polyamide strip is 22.0 mm against 18.6 mm in TB-600, so the path between the sunny outer shell and the cooled inner shell is longer. The manufacturer still publishes the same thermal transmittance k of 3.0 W/m²K for both series and does not say whether it is a Uf or a Uw value, so on paper the wider strip does not show up as a better figure.
In the UAE the frame is only part of the heat gain; on a west wall the glass area and its coating do most of the work. With a 24–28 mm glazing range TB 62 takes a double-glazed unit with a solar-control coating, which is where most of the benefit comes from.
TB 62 against its siblings
TB-600 windows have a 60 mm frame and accept glazing from 18 to 38 mm, so they cope with thick acoustic or laminated units that TB 62 cannot take. For wide openings the family has TB105, with sliding sashes up to 2.4 m tall, and The Next, a multi-track sliding series with sashes up to 2.0 × 3.5 m.
TB 62 suits a house where every opening takes a standard double-glazed unit; if the glass has to be thicker, TB-600 is the series to look at.
