Sliding is the usual way onto an apartment balcony in Dubai, and the track is where a sliding door is judged: sand, water and a sash that starts to run heavy. TB105 is the everyday sliding series of the family, with a thermal break in the section. The profile is extruded in Dubai by Gulfex (Gulf Extrusion LLC); we fabricate it to the manufacturer's specification in our Dubai factory and install it ourselves.
Where TB105 fits
Balcony doors in apartments, bedroom and living-room doors onto a villa terrace, and sliding windows where a swinging sash would hit furniture or a railing. Sashes up to 2.4 m tall cover a normal door-height opening, and 180 kg per sash leaves room for double glazing on generous widths.
The two-colour option helps in towers where the outside colour is fixed by the building and the owner wants white or a light tone inside the flat.
Heat and sand on a sliding track
The thermal break cuts the metal path between the hot outer face and the cooled room, which matters on a sliding door because it is often the largest piece of frame in the flat. What it does not solve is the track: sand gathers there after every dusty day, and a sliding sash seals with brushes and gaskets rather than with the compression a hinged sash gets.
The 6–24 mm glazing range takes a double-glazed unit with a solar-control coating, which does more for a west-facing balcony than any frame. Very thick acoustic units are outside this range.
TB105 next to The Next and The Glide
The Next is the heavier multi-track series: sashes up to 2.0 × 3.5 m and 230 kg, a stated Uw of 1.7 W/m²K and a wind-load resistance of 2000 Pa, with glazing depths of 24 and 40 mm. The Glide adds a lift-and-slide version for sashes up to 420 kg, with a 40 mm interlock. TB105 is the lighter, everyday option of the three.
TB105 is the practical thermal-break sliding series for balconies and terraces of ordinary height; taller or heavier glass belongs to The Next or The Glide.
