A villa entrance, a terrace door and a door from a cooled hall to a covered porch share one problem: a large sheet of aluminium between two very different temperatures. TB-600 doors put a thermal break into that sheet. The profile is extruded in Dubai by Gulfex (Gulf Extrusion LLC); we fabricate it to the manufacturer's specification in our Dubai factory and install it ourselves.
Where TB-600 doors fit
Villa and townhouse entrances, doors onto a terrace or garden, and double doors into a majlis. The leaf size, up to 4.5 × 0.8 m (height × width), favours tall, narrow leaves: under a double-height ceiling a single leaf can run almost to the soffit, and a wider opening is made as a pair.
Swing doors, which open both ways, suit kitchen and service passages where people walk through with full hands, and the concealed-hinge option keeps the outer face of a front door clean.
Heat, sand and a tall leaf
A door leaf is a large area of metal, and on a west-facing entrance it takes the full afternoon sun. The thermal break keeps that heat from reaching the inner face, which the cooled hall would otherwise have to absorb. The 60 or 67 mm tubular sash gives the leaf its stiffness, and on a tall leaf the hinges and lock are sized to its weight at the drawing stage.
An outward-opening door keeps the leaf out of the hall. When a shamal drives sand against the threshold, the seals and the threshold detail decide what gets in, so we check both at the survey, especially on doors that open onto sand or a pool deck.
How it relates to the rest of the family
The TB-600 windows share the 60 mm frame and the 18–38 mm glazing range, so a villa elevation can run windows and doors in one series. TB 62 also makes hinged doors, on a 62 mm tubular frame with a 70.5 mm sash, but takes only 24–28 mm glazing. For an opening wider than a pair of leaves the family moves to sliding: The Glide carries up to 420 kg per lift-and-slide sash.
TB-600 doors are the hinged option for tall entrances and terrace doors that need a thermal break and a match with TB-600 windows.
