Cortizo is a Spanish family-owned systems maker from Padrón, in A Coruña, and aluminium is its main range. We fabricate Cortizo profiles to the manufacturer's specification in our Dubai factory and install them ourselves.
One series, many opening types
COR 60 is drawn for side-hung, tilt-and-turn and bottom-hung sashes, outward side-hung and projected sashes, parallel sliding and pivot windows. In a villa that means one frame and one finish for the whole house, even when the bedrooms, the kitchen and the stair window each need a different opening.
What its figures mean in the UAE
Uw from 1.0 W/m²K is the lowest published value for the whole window; the value on a real project depends on the glass and the size. In an air-conditioned home the glass decides much of the heat gain, and the glazing range of 5–46 mm allows a double-glazed solar-control unit or a thick laminated acoustic one. Sashes can weigh up to 160 kg.
Sound reduction of up to 48 dB (Rw) is the figure for apartments on Sheikh Zayed Road or under a flight path. It is reached with a specific acoustic glass build-up, so we specify the glass for that figure rather than assume it.
COR 60 next to COR 70 and COR 80 Industrial
The deeper Cortizo casement series trade depth for insulation. COR 70 Industrial is 70 / 78 mm with Uw from 0.76 W/m²K, glazing of 6–63 mm and burglar resistance RC2 (WK2); COR 80 Industrial is 80 / 88 mm with Uw from 0.71 W/m²K and glazing of 16–73 mm. COR 60 is the slimmest of the three and publishes the higher sound figure: up to 48 dB, against up to 46 dB for COR 80 Industrial.
COR 60 is the Cortizo casement for homes where quiet rooms and a slim frame matter more than the lowest Uw.
